Cooking oil shortage in Malaysia

This is the latest news from Malaysia. Cooking oil was found bare in almost hypermart and groceries here in Kelantan, Pahang, Malacca and some part of Klang Valley. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs describe this as a result of industrial users buying cooking oil in small packets, which is subsidised by the Government, instead of buying it in larger quantities. Smuggling also contribute to this problem.

The rise of population in rapid developed area such as Klang Valley and the increasing of food oriented industry and restaurants, also added to the shortage problem.
